You, Your Brain, & You

We’re making a Disalmanac movie! It’s called “You, Your Brain, & You.” It features Kevin Murphy (MST3K, Rifftrax), Kevin Allison (RISK Podcast, The State) and many people NOT named Kevin in a mock-documentary about the human brain.

We’ve put the film on Kickstarter to raise money to hire a professional voiceover artist to narrate, book studio time for recording, and to commission some original music. Otherwise, this will be a silent movie. Which would be kind of cool, but sound will be WAY better.

So please visit the Kickstarter, watch the videos, decide which premium is right for you, and tell all your cool-ass pals to give money to You, Your Brain, & You.

Bateman365: DAY 001: Politics Schmolitics: Karl Rove

From August 2005 to August 2006, I made an animated film every day for a year. Starting today, I’m reposting them day by day.

Sadly, I can’t do that here on Tumblr—this being the pre-YouTube days of 2005, I only have SWF files of these animations. Tumblr, YouTube, and most other social media sites that have sprung up since those old-school days do not allow users to post SWF files. And of course, Flash is held in low regard by Apple and other gatekeepers these days. Things were different in 2005.

So, I’m going old school and I’ve started a Bateman365 Blogger blog. Be sure to bookmark it and visit daily.

The Bateman365 begins excruciatingly humbly, but making an animated Flash video every damn day for a year eventually changed my life. Let’s look back through both the good AND the bad, won’t we?

Oh, snap: I found the motherlode of Bateman365 animations at last!

What was Bateman365? I made an animated movie every day for a year, from August 2005 to August 2006. Along the way, I got to collaborate with many comedians and musicians—it was kind of the best.

The Bateman365 started around the time YouTube launched. At that point, YouTube was glitchy and slow and stupid, so none of the Bateman365 were ever posted there.

All of the Bateman365 animations were lost around 2009-10, when a) I lost the URL, batemania.com, to a URL poacher, and b) all the external hard drives the project lived on died.

But: I found some (all?) of them online, and I’ll shortly start a new Bateman365 Tumblr, posting them daily. Watch this space!
